A modern civil celebrant needs to have good IT and computer skills.

More young and not so young couples and families use the internet to find and buy products and services.

So if you are not there, you can not be found!

Be careful about spending lots of money on newspaper, magazines, and other standard advertising methods.

Having your own website is the first best step before you do anything else about advertising or promotion.

There are ways to have a web presence without spending thousands of dollars, if you can not afford that.

And ways to build towards a comprehensive website as your celebrancy service grows.

STEP ONE:
Very Basic: Buying a Standard no photo  ACCN LISTING or Deluxe with photo ACCN LISTING and use that spot in our ACCN Directory as your a web address.

Once listed, if you go to Directory, and search for your Listing
Then
Click on its HEADING, the page that comes up in the browser can be used as your web address.

For example, the example celebrant listing URL  is:
http://www.accn.com.au/directory/directory-help/sam-pl-celebrant_534/

STEP TWO:
Much better than Step 1, because this can be put on your business cards - and does not have to change, if you change designs or hosting companies.

Buy your OWN DOMAIN name. There are may places on the web to buy domain names .. just Google.

A DOT.COM.AU is $44.95 for two years 
A DOT.COM is $19.95 for one year
There are other cheaper providers, but we use Negistry as it's an Australian group and gives good service.

Then purchase a DOMAIN MANAGER (Pointer) for an EXTRA $19.95 pa : Netregistry - Domain Manager

And point your DOMAIN name to your ACCN web entry.

TOTAL COST:
No more than equivalent of $42.50 per year, plus the cost of your ACCN listing (see Step 1).

To purchase a domain name with a DOT AU you will need to have an ABN number.
This is not an easy process, and you must say you  aim to make $20,000 pa to quailify for one.

STEP THREE:
Better than Step 2. Point your Domain Name to a Home Pages website. There are various websites that have free templates and /or hosting. The ACCN does sell its own low cost Homepages websites.

Unlike Steps 1 and 2 above, these web pages will make no reference to the ACCN at all.

The advantage these three approaches however is that you can edit your entry any time, without needing to pay a web developer to do anything extra for you.

STEP FOUR:
Better than Step 3. Purchase a low cost website with free websites packages. There are various websites that sell templates and hosting packages.

Netregistry sells an 11 page website for approx $17 per month. And if you need assistance, the ACCN does offer such a service for a fee.

Purchase a low cost template and hosting package so you have your own website - but one you can edit yourself. We have heard suggestins from members of website services our Members have used.

The advantage these three approaches however is that you can edit your entry any time, without needing to pay a web developer to do anything extra for you.
