Celebrant associations

PDF Print E-mail

"Being a celebrant is more than ......
much more than whatever we imagined it could be."

Rona Goold.

As civil celebrants in Australia, our celebrant roles are evolving.  New situations arise and celebrants need group wisdom and support.

Thus every celebrant is advised to belong to a celebrant association.

State Celebrant Associations
Each state, except Northern Territory and Tasmania, have celebrant associations. These associations started for only authorised marriage celebrants. Some now accept student celebrants, and non marriage celebrant members. Some have broadened their geographic boundaries.

National Celebrant Associations
The longest standing celebrant association with a national focus, the AFCC, was formed to support the development of civil ceremonies as alternative to christenings and religious funerals.

Since 2003, a number of new national associations have developed as support for students and graduates of celebrant traning courses and  of registered training organisations offering celebrant training.
